Welcome to Indian Newslink March 15, 2021 Digital Edition

Auckland, March 15, 2021
Dear Friend

We have pleasure in presenting herewith the latest (March 15, 2020) issue of Indian Newslink.

This issue comes on the day when the Nation marks the second anniversary of the Christchurch massacre. As we mentioned in our Leader in this issue, there was another reason for us to lead with the story. That is, to this day, people in the Muslim community in New Zealand feels betrayed by departments, agencies and people whose duty it is to protect and promote their safety and security.

A terrorist went on a rampage killing 51 innocent men, women and children and injuring 40 others, who were all praying at two Mosques in Christchurch on March 15, 2019. Although the Christchurch High Court served justice in sentencing Australian Brenton Tarrant (29) to life imprisonment without parole, there are unaddressed issues.

Indian Newslink has been in contact with the leaders of the Muslim community who in turn have been in consultation with various government agencies and departments responsible for response and support.

Their one word in unison: Disappointment.

Expression of Concerns

Among the concerns of the Muslim community are (1) Action against those who failed to protect the Muslim community despite Red Flags raised much earlier (2) Biased approach towards the community (3) A lack of response in addressing all their problems (4) Absence or totally inadequate financial support to the families of victims (5) Insufficient funding and poor follow-up of the promise to build resilience in the Muslim community following the terrorist attacks on March 15, 2019.

Please read the issue and let us know what you think. There are of course our usual departments-Current Affairs, Politics, Education, Business, Opinion, Community, Entertainment and Sports.

Please share the issue with your friends on Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook.

With Greetings from the Indian Newslink Team
