Naveen Upreti, who served Bank of Baroda (New Zealand) Limited as Managing Director, returned to India with his wife Geetha last week on completion of his three-year term here.
He was the second person to hold the post since the Bank commenced operations in June 2010. Indian Newslink understands that Mr Upreti will be at the Head Office of Bank of Baroda, the parent bank in Mumbai at a higher rank.
At a staff farewell dinner held on October 8, Wenceslaus Anthony, a Director of the BOBNZ paid tributes to Mr Upreti saying that he brought commitment and dignity to his role, focusing on team work and customer service.
High standards
“Mr Upreti has also set high standards of performance, promoting concepts of integrity, honesty and clarity with a focused approach to banking service. The Bank opened two branches, one each at South Auckland (Manukau) and Wellington during his tenure. Two other landmarks that were achieved were opening of the Dominion Road (Mt Eden) branch on Saturdays and use of the Bank’s ATM cards at all ATM machines in New Zealand at no service charge,” he said.
He later presented a memento of ‘Footprint,’ to Mr Upreti.
Mr Anthony also welcomed Prahlad Gupta who has since taken charge as Managing Director of the Bank in New Zealand.
Mr Upreti said that every member of the staff was a link in the chain that formed a veritable chain in providing quality service on a global scale.
“Bank of Baroda continues to grow in New Zealand and staff motivation and customer service are paramount to commercial success. As a bank of the people, we also realise and fulfil our social responsibility,” he said.
