By being bold, innovative and inclusive, Unitec received one of the highest accolades in business marketing at the TVNZ Marketing Awards (Judges’ Choice for Marketing Leadership) for its campaign, “We make the people who make it.”
TVNZ Marketing Awards are the industry’s premier business marketing awards run as partnership between the Marketing Association and NZ Marketing magazine. Now in their 22nd year, the awards are an invaluable opportunity for marketers to be recognised as leaders in their field.
Unitec demonstrated marketing leadership and improved marketing performance through effective employee and stakeholder engagement in a successful marketing initiative project.
As New Zealand’s largest institute of technology and one of the largest provider of trades training, Unitec has provided the country with highly skilled and work-ready engineers and tradespeople across a wide range of disciplines for many years. Unitec wanted to celebrate these trades, engineering and construction professionals who have made significant contributions to helping shape Auckland.
Unitec Chief Executive Dr Rick Ede said, ““With increased urban development in Auckland and the Christchurch rebuild, trades training will give graduates the skills they need to be involved in a diverse range of high profile and exciting projects. The marketing campaign highlighted that a trades qualification can offer a rewarding career, good financial prospects and a great lifestyle.”
This award is the latest in a number of honours Unitec has received for its ‘We make the people who make It’ Campaign, having won earlier a silver Axis for Activation and four awards at the CAANZ Media Awards, including the highly sought after Best in Show award.
According to the judges, “Unitec demonstrated true marketing leadership with this surprising, non-traditional solution, in a category where this is unexpected. They delivered outstanding results. The clarity of problem statement and brilliantly integrated outcome was impressive.”
Unitec’s creative, progressive and distinctive approach to marketing communications sets it apart from others in the sector.
Julz Britnell was till recently Corporate Communications Manager at Unitec, which is the Sponsor of the ‘Business Excellence in Innovation’ Category of the Indian Newslink Indian Business Awards 2013.
