After months of anxious wait and hectic negotiations and marketing efforts, an Auckland couple is happy to announce that their maiden film venture ‘Serndhu Polama?’ (Shall we go together?) will hit the big screen this Friday.
The film has the distinction of being the first to be shot entirely in New Zealand.
Producer Sasi Nambissan and Co-Producer Dr Rita Sasidharan (Directors of ‘Aiswarya Entertainments Limited) said that ‘Dream Factory’ would be releasing his film in South India on March 6.
Dream Factory is a film distribution and marketing company established last year by leading producers K E Gnanavelraja, C V Kumar, Elred Kumar, Y Not Sashi (owner of Y Not Studios), Abinesh Elangovan and Laxmanan.
Something different
Mr Nambissan said that screening rights for overseas with English subtitles has been sold and that the date of release of ‘Serndhu Polama?’ in New Zealand and other countries will be confirmed shortly.
“It is a combination of love, mystery, humour and pathos – everything in fact that would make a film appeal to the wider audiences. Director Anil Kumar, who is well known in the Malayalam and Tamil films, has brought together a well-knit team to offer something new to filmgoers. We hope that its success would be inspiring. This is his 39th film,” he said.
Mrs Sasidharan said that the film is a travel-love story of two youngsters and the affection among a group of friends who migrated from Chennai several years ago.
“As well as narrating the vicissitudes of the youth, ‘Serndhu Polama?’ will highlight the scenic beauty of New Zealand. This fun-filled youth film will be a different experience for the audiences all over the world,” she said.
The Cast
The cast of ‘Serndhu Polama?’ includes youngsters Vinay Rai and Madhurima Banerjee in the lead role, veteran actors ‘Thalaivasal’ Vijay, Thambi Ramaiyah and Anand Sri Krishna (Nandu) and a number of others.
