It is normal for the young mind to reach out to the stars. Teenagers dream of a future in which they would have a place of significance and prosperity.
On that score, Shama Shaheen, our Model of the Fortnight has sights on two distinct and perhaps unconnected professions- skincare and theatre.
Between the clinic and the stage, she also has eyes set on the field playing Hockey.
“One of my goals in life is to become a dermatologist but I realise that the journey would be full of challenges because my proclivities do not include science. But skincare motivates me and therefore I may give it a try,” she said.
This 16-year-old student (Year 12) student at One Tree Hill College in Auckland would undoubtedly discover that the science of dermatology is more than beauty of the skin and that a healthy skin is the key to healthy living.
Dramatic urge
Shama is also passionate about the theatre, evincing perhaps more than casual interest in producing and directing plays apart from acting in them. She hopes to establish her own drama school in not too distant a future.
Born in Lautoka (Fiji), she arrived in New Zealand with her parents when she was in her formative years and finds life in Auckland exciting and fun.
She gives credit to her parents for their support and guidance in all her curricular and extra-curricular activities, which included the ‘Miss Face of Beauty International India’ held earlier in the year.
She returned home with the honour of being ‘Miss People’s Choice’ and Second Runner-Up to the delight of her family.
“I believe in the adage, ‘Whatever happens happens for the best.’ I am confident that with hard work and dedication, I will be able to achieve my objectives,” Shama said.
Dancing and writing poems are her favourites but her ‘serious love’ is reserved for good food and good old actor Shahrukh Khan
