Former students of the Nehru Memorial Primary School (NMPS) in Suva (Fiji) will have long hours to remember their scholastic days as they meet in Auckland next month.
As published in this newspaper earlier (March 15, 2013), the alumni of the School from either side of the Tasman will meet at the Grange in Papatoetoe to exchange information and good thoughts, wine and dine, spreading joy and goodwill.
The event, scheduled to be held on August 17, has seen through various stages of planning and brainstorming through meetings, discussions, telephone calls and email messages for the past four months.
Fun & entertainment
Auckland’s Dr Mukesh Raj will entertain guests with his super silky voice, while Sydney’s Manjit Singh Chopra and Perth’s Dr Nalini Rao will also contribute towards the evening’s entertainment programme. Pritesh Patel, the Committee’s ‘Mr Logistics,’ has organised a number of surprise prizes.
The Reunion Organising Committee has been working hard and contacting former students and staff to ensure good attendance.
We are pleased with the overwhelming support and interest from the NMPS community in general and the former staff in particular.
According to the Committee’s event coordinators, demand for tickets has been excellent and an increasing number of people are evincing interest.
Wellington based Umesh Ranchod has brilliantly promoted the event on Facebook and liaised with former students and staff through email. Auckland based Rohit Patel, Pritesh Patel, Roshni Prasad, Rabindra Sharma and Dr Yogesh Rathod have been active promoters.
I was happy to secure the attendance of two all-time favourite teachers, Mrs Kusma Nand and Mrs Rajni Kumar.
Some former students will be travelling from as far as Perth and US.
The Committee is looking forward to hosting an enjoyable evening. Mr Sharma has arranged a photographer to strengthen our collection of photographs and memories.
Details of the Event are being constantly updated on Facebook.
