A Community Market will become a weekly feature in Papatoetoe from January 20, 2019.
Organised by the Hindu Heritage Research Foundation of New Zealand, it will be held every Sunday at 107-109 St George Street (behind RSA and Library) Car Park.
Fruits, Vegetables and more
Hindu Heritage Research Foundation Chief Executive Mohanan Morganan said that it would be a place for fresh vegetables and fruits, good food, consumer durables, used goods and other items.
“The Community Market will be open from 6 am to 1 pm every Sunday. We invite stallholders, shoppers and everyone to visit the Market and be a part of the revival of the Papatoetoe Town Centre. Further details can be obtained form Assistant Manager on 021-0875 9527,” he said.
Mr Morganan said that proceeds from the sale of items at the weekly Community Market will be used for the activities of the Foundation.
For people’s welfare
“The Hindu Heritage Research Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation. The money that is earned from the Community Market will be used for the Papatoetoe Budgeting & Family Services for the welfare of the service users for Food Bank. The Market will be totally on the donations given by the stall holders,” he said.
The Foundation conducts many other programmes to raise cultural awareness and enable ordinary people enjoy festivals such as Diwali and the Family Fun Day, he added.
