Smile accompanies quality

Jay Narayan ventured into business six years ago with the resolve to sell spices that would not only cater to the tastes of people but also ensure his success as an entrepreneur.

He was right. Jay’s Fresh Mart Limited in Papatoetoe became a centre of attraction for the residents in the region and other parts of Auckland.

He is gratified by the support extended by his wife Kiran, their daughter Siman and son Kavi.

“It is the strength of the family unit that has enabled the store to grow from strength to strength over the years,” he said.

Making a difference

Mr Narayan has always been keen to make a difference to his firm as well as the growing number of customers.

As well as trading in an extensive range of spices that are popular with Indo-Fijians, he has consistently endeavoured to keep prices low.

The savings made on overheads are passed on to customers as the family manages the business, he said.

Jay’s Fresh Mart trades in more than 500 items including fresh vegetables and specialist items from Fiji such as Kava.

“An overwhelming majority of our customers are Indo-Fijians and all of them say that they like to shop with us because they are assured of friendly service and availability of their favourite items,” Mr Narayan said.
