With long sunny days running high, the fishing season is here.
The adage, “Success comes to those who are at the right place at the right time with the right people” came true last week as a small group of fishing enthusiasts returned home with a school of large snappers.
Sailing under somewhat windy conditions, they found the catch behind the Rakino Island in the Houraki Gulf.
Regulars say that this is one of the best areas for snappers.
It was soon proved correct, with the group taking out snappers weighing between 18 kg and 24 kg. What a catch!
The group was in waters from 7 am and despite many more at stake, the young anglers in the group insisted on abiding by the individual limit of nine.
The bait used was pilchards and squids.
