Against a scenario of rising family harm, an Auckland-based Counselling Service is conducting an event to mobilise resources to become more effective and responsive.
Sahaayta Counselling is organising the Programme titled, ‘Make a Difference,’ on Friday, August 23, 2019 at Ellerslie Events Centre, located at 80 Ascot Avenue, Remuera, Auckland.
Indian Newslink and Radio Tarana are promoting the Programme as their contribution to the superlative service being provided by Sahaayta led by Sucharita Varma, its Director and Team Leader Zoya Salim Kara.
Diverse Services
As well as Counselling, the Organisation provides social support, assistance on issues relating to settlement, family harm prevention, alcohol and drug support and assistance during grief and loss suffered by clients.
Ms Varma said that Sahaayta does not receive any government funding and hence the forthcoming event is important to its objective of providing higher levels of service.
“On an average, we support 1000 families every year on referrals by community agencies, the New Zealand Police, Courts and individuals. We also manage ‘Sahaara,’ a women’s group, ‘Saveraa,’ a self-esteem group and conduct anger-management courses,” she said.
