New Zealanders of all religions and faiths in general and Hindus in particular can seek enlightenment on life, its manifestations and vicissitudes as a young and popular scholar speaking on the teachings of Ramayana and Mahabaratha, two great epics of India.
Velukkudi Krishnan will speak on a number of topics including the teachings of the two epics and ‘The Relevance of Spiritualism in the Modern World’ next month.
The Discourses
He will speak on the ‘Concept of Time and Space in the Bhagavad Gita’ in English in the Hillsborough Room at the Fickling Convention Centre, Three Kings, Mt Albert on November 3 from 7 pm and 9 pm.
On the following morning (November 4) at 730 am, he will speak on ‘Bhagavad Gitayum Kaingaryamum’ (The Objectives of Bhagavad Gita) and ‘Kamba Ramayanam Vaali Vadam,’ (The Vanquish of Vaali in Kamba Ramayanam) at 7 pm. Both discourses will be conducted in Tamil at the same venue.
Velukkudi Krishnan, aka ‘Sri U Ve,’ ‘Velukkudi Krishnan Swami’ and ‘Velukkudi Sri U Ve Krishnan Swami,’ is considered to be an exponent of ‘Vaishnavism,’ (Worship of Lord Vishnu), Temples and other religious and historic sites.
Inspiring dedication
His father, Velukkudi Varadachariar, a scholar, imparted Vedic knowledge to his son and groomed him as a religious and secular educationist.
Qualified in accounting, Mr Krishnan became a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India but found the confines of the profession constricting.
He was only 28-years old in 1991 when his father passed on, and decided to dedicate his life to religious education and related activities.
Fluent in Sanskrit, Tamil, Telugu and English, he delivers discourses and lectures distributes his recordings in these languages.
A globetrotter, he has delivered discourses in Bahrain, Canada, New Zealand Oman, Singapore, United Kingdom and United States of America.
