Ranjna Patel QSM, is the co-founder of East Tamaki Healthcare together with her husband, Dr Kanti Patel, who started the business in 1977 as a solo GP practice. Throughout the years, Ranjna has held (and continues to hold) various executive roles involving medical practice development, strategic development and public relations. She is a Director of the East Tamaki Healthcare group of companies.
Today, ETHC is the largest private primary healthcare provider in Auckland, with a network of 18 medical clinics. The growth of the business throughout the years can be attributed to Ranjna’s hard work and determination to ensure that everyone in the community has access to quality healthcare. She has done this by working closely with district health boards, primary health organisations and community leaders, as well as serving on the boards of different community-based groups.
She has used her work environment and contacts to work in the community. As Trustee of ISSO Swaminarayan Temple, she devotes many volunteer hours for the community including advising on issues and JP services. She was President of Manukau Indian Association (the first woman president), sits on several advisory committees, including Counties Manukau Police South East Asian Advisory Board, chairs MIT Indian Community Advisory Group, is chair of NZICA Womens Group and Executive Trustee of Total Healthcare. She is also a member of NZ Global Women, Women’s Presidents Organisation, NZ Asian Leadership Group and was a Finalist in 2013 for women of Influence, one of 50 women in NZ. In addition she sits as a Director of the Bank of Baroda and is a Member of the Lottery Distribution Committee.
