But community rallies support to family

None of the three parliamentarians of Indian origin has bothered to express even words of solace over the death of a young Indian last weekend but communities across the country have expressed their solidarity.
Foremost among them were Indian High Commissioner Sanjiv Kohli and Head of Chancery at the High Commission Sandeep Sood.
As a prominent community worker said, “It happens all the time. Our politicians do not consider peo
ple from South India as their responsibility. We have to, and will help ourselves.”
Twenty-five-year-old Pavin Pramoth died in a traffic accident around 415 pm on Saturday, September 24, 2016 as his car crashed into an electricity pole on Ketemarae Road, Hawera in South Taranaki.
Pavin was the sole occupant of the car at the time of the deadly accident.
The Police notified two of his close friends, including Jegan Ramar, who contacted us for help and assistance.
Instant help from above
We contacted Mr Sood and soon thereafter Mr Kohli.
Their support was not only instantaneous but also moving.
Mr Sood said that the High Commission would do everything possible for the repatriation of the body of the deceased to his parents in Theni, a small town near Madurai in Tamil Nadu and offer financial help. Shortly thereafter, Mr Kohli contacted us to say that the High Commission ‘would go beyond and pay for the entire cost including that of undertakers.’
Overwhelming support came as Indian Newslink Community Fund Chairman Wenceslaus Anthony appealed to the public for donations and commenced with his own personal contribution.
Ilango Krishnamoorthy, Suresh Kumar, Roshni Shetty, Ravi Bedadala, Sun Arunagiri and BA Narasimhan, were among the first to remit varied amounts into the Fund.
Employer moved
Sandeep Agarwal, who employed Pavin, announced his company’s contribution of $5000 to the Fund. He also travelled to New Plymouth to oversee the completion of formalities related to transportation of the body.
“Pavin Pramoth had been working with us for eight months now. He was truly an honourable man and held high respect amongst all. As responsible employers, we feel it is our duty to assist in any way we can to make this grieving period as easy as possible for his family,” he said.
