Lianne Dalziel has been re-elected as Christchurch’s mayor

Central Otago has a new mayor, after Tim Cadogan unseated Tony Lepper.
Despite the race being too close for an official call, Neil Holdom was won the mayoralty in New Plymouth after his closest rival Richard Handley conceded.
In a statement, Mr Holdom said the people of the district had selected a “very strong team with a solid mix of skills” and he was looking forward to working with them.
But he said he was disappointed by the low voter turnout.
A key challenge for the new team will be to focus on improving our connection with the community and to ensure the views of the people of the district drive council decision making.
