During their talks in New Delhi later this month, members of the New Zealand and Indian official and business delegations will outline the advantages of investing in each other’s country and the benefits of a free market economy.
The Indian side will be happy to learn of the impressive plan of expansion of Patton New Zealand in the world’s largest consumer market.
Chief Executive Officer Sameer Handa said his Company was setting up a manufacturing plant in India to cater to the growing demand for indoor and outdoor air-conditioners, freezers and other products.
“While our manufacturing unit in Thailand, established as a Joint Venture with a local company, has been serving the growing markets of South Asia and South East Asia, we see brightening prospects in the Indian market. It is therefore significant that we have an established presence as a manufacturer in one of the largest and fastest growing economies in the world,” Mr Handa said.
He said that as in the case of other manufacturing units, Patton will conduct its Research and Development activities in New Zealand for the Indian facility.
“We are in the process of locating the ideal location in the Western part of India. This could be in Pune or Navi Mumbai. We hope to finalise all relevant issues and commence production by 2013-2014 financial year,” he told Indian Newslink during an interview this week.
The Company has offices and manufacturing units in New Zealand, Australia and Thailand and offices in Delhi and Chennai in India. The establishment of a Wholesale outlet in Jaipur will mark yet another milestone for Patton in India.
Based on the current Business Plan and forecast, Patton Refrigeration India Private Limited would become the largest operation for the Company, both in terms of turnover and revenue in the next ten years.
But Patton Australia is poised to take a quantum leap in the next five years, outstripping its New Zealand and Thailand counterparts to become the largest operation over the next five years.
Impressive growth
“Our growth plan, based on realistic planning and market forecast, is to almost quadruple our turnover to $217 million over the next five years. Our expansion plans in Australia will see the opening of our sixth fully owned Patton office in Adelaide this month and our fourth Australian joint venture in Queensland next month,” Mr Handa said.
With these developments, Patton’s global network will account for nine offices each in New Zealand and Australia, three in India and one in Thailand, with a complement of more than 150 staff. In addition, distributors in the Middle East and other centres support the Company’s worldwide reach.
Since his appointment as the Chief Executive Officer in 1998 (prior to which he worked for three years as Engineering Sales Manager, Sales Manager and Marketing
Manager), Patton has been witnessing increasing productivity and profitability, providing complete product and service support to clients and seeking new markets.
The figures are impressive. The Company’s turnover, which was $10 million in 1998 has increased six-fold, while staff numbers have multiplied five times to reach 150.
