Hindu devotees can immerse themselves in piety and religious environment as the ‘Auckland Arulmigu Sri Ganesh Temple’ conducts a series of special poojas, abhishekams and other events next month.
Chief priest Parameswaran (better known as Chandru) said that the five-day programme will commence with ‘Maha Kumbabhishekam’ at 530 pm on March 21 and culminate with a number of events on March 24.
“However the ‘Mandala Abhishekam’ will start on March 25 and continue daily over 48 days. Devotees can register for special Navagraha Pooja,” he said.
Mr Chandru said the first day of the special programmes (March 21) would comprise
Acharya Varunam, Sangalpam , Vigneshwara Pooja, Punniyaga Vasanam , Muhurtha Padanam, Thavatha Anughnyai, Sthana Pooja, Maha Ganapathy Homam and Deeparathanai, followed by Maha Prasad.
The events on March 22 would begin at 830 am with Nuthana Moorthy Dhaniyathivasam (in which devotees offer ‘Padi’ to new deities) and continue with Navagraha Homam (special Pooja for the nine planets), Ratna Niyasam, Nayanonmeelanam, Jalathivasam and Maha Prasad. The evening programme, starting at 5 pm, will comprise Karma Shanti Piravesha Bali, Yanthra Pooja, Mirutha Sangirakanam, Shodasa Palika Pooja, Raksha Bandhanam, Kodasthabanam, Athivasam and Yagasalai Pravesham.
The programme on March 23, beginning at 9 am will include Divakara Pooja, Agni Sangkiraham, Yaga Salai Pooja (first stage), Homam and Poornahuthi. The programme in the evening (from 5 pm), will comprise Deepasthabanam, Ratnaniyasam, Yaga Salai Pooja (second stage), Deeparathanai and Maha Prasad.
Punniyaga Vasanam, Yaga Salai Pooja (third sage), Kumba Pooja, Jaam, Raksha Bandhanam, Yaga Salai Pooja (fourth stage), other religious ceremonies, Poornahuthi and Maha Prasad will form a part of the programme on March 24.
According to Mr Chandru, March 25 would mark the 12th day of ‘Panguni’ month of the Tamil Kara Year and hence has a special significance.
“The highlight of the day would be Maha Kumbabhishekam of the Navagrahas in the newly built shrines, along with processional deities of Lord Ganesha, Lord Shiva, Goddess Shakti and Lord Kartikeyan (Murugan). I welcome all devotees to participate in this auspicious event,” he said.
“The day’s activities would begin early (5 am) with Yaga Salai Pooja (fifth Stage) and comprise Maha Poornahuthi, Deeparathanai, Reciting of Vedas and Thirumurai, Aashirvaatham, Ashtapali,” he added.
There will be poojas for 48 days (Mandala Abhishekam). Devotees are welcome to register for this special poojas for the Navagrahas.
