For the small and well-knit Pakistani community, New Zealand provides ample opportunities to not only practice their faith but also pursue their respective professions with equal opportunity for growth and progress.
Today, Pakistanis can boast of success in almost every field of human activity, including farming, medicine, academics, business, accounting, engineering and so on.
The community celebrates with pride the achievements of its members and observes national, religious and social festivities through the Pakistan Association of New Zealand, (PANZ) an Auckland based organisation.
Islamic Teachings
Over the years, the Association has worked to practice of Islam in accordance with the teachings of the Holy Quran and Sunnah and to strengthen Islamic unity and assist in the development of the Muslim community of New Zealand.
As well as establishing and fostering good relationship among Muslims from other countries, the Association also aims to facilitate a more efficient and equitable usage of the available human and material resources within the community.
Effective Leadership
PANZ is a good example of effective leadership in coping with the ever-changing world, without compromising the traditional values and teachings of the Holy Quran, promoting true Islamic values and inculcating them among the youth, encouraging women to be true partners in social and economic development and enthusing pride and honour of being ‘a true Pakistani working for the benefit of all.’
PANZ members elected their office-bearers at their Annual General Meeting held earlier in the year. Among them were Atta Ur Rehman Qureshi (President) Dr Saba Tasneem (Vice-President), Umair Raees (General Secretary), Falak Share (Treasurer) and Nasir Khan (Joint Secretary).
