The New Zealand Muslim Sports Association is preparing its teams of players to participate in the Mini-Muslim World Cup Soccer and Sports Tournament scheduled to be held in Fiji next month.
The Fiji Muslim FANCA Sports Federation organises the biannual event to motivate Muslims to participate in a number of sports activities.
A number of associations from various parts of the world are expected to participate in the tournament to be held from September 26 to 30, 2012.
New Zealand players were winners in ‘Open-Aged Soccer,’ ‘Masters Over 35s Soccer’ and the ‘Tug-of-war’ events held in the US in 2010.
A New Zealand Muslim Sports Association notification said that its players are preparing to participate in Golf, Volleyball (Men), Under 21 Soccer, Open Aged Soccer, Master Over 35 Soccer, Veterans Over 42 Soccer, Tug-of-war and the Quran Tilawat competitions.
“FANCA will mark its 15th anniversary at the Tournament. We would be among the bidders to host the games next year in New Zealand. We hosted the Games held in 2006,” the notification said.
