New laser machine improves dental care

A new Hard Tissue Dental Laser machine at an Auckland clinic promises greater efficiency, better treatment and greater dental care.

The Otahuhu Dental Care has recently acquired the machine manufactured by Biolase Inc that is used to drill and fill teeth.

Dr Rajeev Nagpal of the practice said the machine has been approved by the Federal Drug Administration in the US and that it can be used to remove decay and treat gums and root canal.

Dr Rajeev has also acquired a soft tissue Laser to do laser teeth whitening.

Sensitive teeth are a common complaint, mainly in the winter.

Sometimes this is a relatively easy problem to solve.

Studies show that one in four people suffer from sensitive teeth; however, this is greater in the 25-45 age group and in women.

People most likely to suffer from this marginal tooth sensitivity are those who over- enthusiastically brush their teeth, consume more than usual amounts of wine or citrus drinks, have had treatment for gum disease or who have special medical problems like bulimia.

Apart from sensitive teeth, proper dental care is essential not only maintain good dental health but also the general wellbeing.

Studies have shown that dental care obtained through a qualified dentist improves the overall health of the individual.
