Two children of popular Auckland lawyer, the late Shean Singh did their family proudly when they were admitted to the High Court Bar in Auckland on July 29, 2022.
Their mother Darsan Singh was present with her son Christopher and daughter Elizabeth as the Presiding Judge Christian Whata administered their oath of office at the High Court.
Darsan was understandably in tears, for, as well as raising and grooming the children since the passing of Shean in a boat tragedy on May 24, 2015, she has been running the law firm based in Mt Eden, Auckland.
Promise to clients
“Shean’s tragic death had placed me and my family in a deep state of distress and I had to go through an exceptionally difficult time. It was his guidance and mentorship that kept me going all these years. I am happy that Christopher and Elizabeth have fulfilled our dream by entering the legal profession with the appropriate qualifications. Our clients can look forward to even higher levels of service and professionalism,” she said, speaking to Indian Newslink.
Shean Singh Barristers and Solicitors was established more than 30 years ago, and over the years, the law firm has expanded to many areas of service.
“We have continued to work hard to preserve and promote the values set up by Shean. It has always been my objective to serve our clients well, offering the best legal advice possible. I am happy that our firm today has six barristers and solicitors enrolled within the Singh family. Our new generation of lawyers are keen to take the firm to even higher levels of service,” Darsan said.

She said that Shean Singh Lawyers provides a wide range of services including conveyancing, immigration, estate planning, and business services.
“We are expanding our reach and exploring innovative areas of law to best serve our new and existing clients. Shean Singh Barristers and Solicitors is now a primarily digital practice. For face-to-face meetings, we still have our head office at 506 Dominion Road, Mt Eden. We have recently opened a new office on the Northshore, where meetings are organised by prior appointment,” Darsan said.
She said that the needs of clients have changed, and that flexibility and ease of access to the right support are important. As well as offering virtual consultations and face-to-face meetings when required, we are open to travelling to the places of our clients who are unable to meet online or at our offices,” she said.
