Musical evening to fund Murugan Temple

Twenty-two local artistes will present an evening of melody to raise financial resources for the new place of worship for the New Zealand Thirumurugan Temple, located at 145 Church Street, Otahuhu in South Auckland.

A private initiative of Nadesan Nanthakumar, who is a member of the Society, the Programme, called, ‘Musical Journey 2014 with Auckland Super Singers’ will be held at 530 pm on February 22, 2014 at Auckland Normal Intermediate School Hall, Poronui Street, Mt Eden.

The Singers

The singers are Ahranni Sivakumar, Alexshana Sivarajah, Amirtha Srinivasan, Anusha Suresh Ramachandra, Ashshaya Pushparajah, Balu Mallela, Gaarunyaa Uthayakumar, Kaviya Balaraman, Keeran Sivakumar, Kierrtana Sivakumar, Krishna Sudheer, Meerah Yogakumar, Pavan Mani, Rama Yogakumar, Roma Nory, Shalini Ketheeswaran, Shanika Gnanakumar, Sivani Surendran, Synthia Sivakumar, Vethahi Arunthayaparan, Vishalini Gunadas and Vishnupriya Mallela.

Supporting artistes

The orchestra includes Music Director Madan Mohan (Keyboard & Synthesiser), Dr Suresh Ramachandra (Mridangam), Basant Madhur (Tabla), Vindhya Suresh Ramachandra (Veena), Balu Mallela (Ghatam), Anthony Yempee (Lead Guitar), Diya Yempee (Rhythm Guitar), Shivam Padayachi (Bass Guitar), Vishnu Sreekumar (Percussion), Joseph Alexander (Electronic Drums), Joscel Alexander (Acoustic Drums), Geerthana Nanthakumar (Synthesiser & Violin), Divya Nanthakumar (Keyboard & Violin) and Manisha Nanthakumar (Keyboard & Violin). Arumugarajah Yogakumar will manage the sound system, while Anuradha Suresh Ramachandra will be the Master of Ceremonies.

Raising talent

Mr Nanthakumar said that the objective of the Programme was not only to raise money for the ongoing construction of the Temple in the South Auckland suburb of Mangere but also to provide an opportunity for the younger members of the society to display their talent.
