‘Beyond Boundaries’ in Hamilton on May 1, 2021

Artistes of various bands, all dedicated to music, will present a Concert in the first quarter of next year, taking the concept of ‘melody envelopes human minds and hearts in bondage.’
‘Moksha Base,’ a musical group of young men and women from Rotorua and Hamilton is organising the event titled, ‘Beyond Boundaries’ at Gallagher Academy of Performing Arts, Hamilton on Saturday, May 1, 2021. The event, commencing at 5 pm, will be the first of its kind in Hamilton.

Captivating and binding
Sivakumar Sangameshwaran of Moksha Base said that the Concert will bring together several bands enlivening the belief that ‘music captivates and transcends boundaries.’
“Each of the participating bands will perform their own original music one after the other on the same stage. This is about bringing together the people of New Zealand under one roof to share their musical talent to a cross-section of our population,” he said.
About Moksha Base
Established in 2012, Moksha Base is a unique music group, the members of which share their passion for music. As well as playing a variety of musical instruments and singing songs corresponding to almost every format including songs from Indian films, classical fusions of Western, Hip-Hop, Rock, the Group has to its credit its own compositions and cover numbers.
Over the past eight years, Moksha Base has performed to packed houses in Auckland and Hamilton and an online performance for the Dunedin Tamil Society.
Since October 2019, the Group has published three original musical videos.
The Artistes
The twelve-member group should not be taken lightly as just melody-makers. Among them are high-end IT professionals, engineers, medical practitioners, consultants, accountants, biotech and biochemistry experts and other providers who keep the wheels of the economy moving.
The artistes include, in alphabetical order, Abhishek Raj, Anjali Abhilash, Ashwin Ramesh, Aswathy Sasidharan, Ayesha Bint Ahmed, Jay Dev, Maathangi Parthasarathi, Ranjini Vasanthan, Shankar Narayanan, Shelin Shelz, Sivakumar Sangameshwaran and Vasanthan Raghuveeran.
Lockdown Music
As a measure of self-preservation and honing their music skills during Lockdown Level 4 declared by the New Zealand government from March 25, 2020 to April 27, 2020 to prevent the spread of Covid-19, members of Moksha Base released two albums, one each in Malayalam and English.
The Malayalam Album comprises ‘Cheru Meghamay,’ (Small Cloud), a Malayalam song that connects Nature and everything it offers- peace, confidence, satisfaction, tranquillity, stillness, the dynamics, and most important of all, universal happiness. If ever drop of water- from wherever it occurs, in this song, from rain- holds a flower, then let a million flowers bloom, leading to blossoming of lives with the fragrance of happiness, goodwill and understanding.
And the title could not be more appropriate to New Zealand – Aotearoa- the Land of the Long White Cloud,’ that holds people of every disposition from everywhere.
Shankar Ramanathan, our own version of T M Soundararajan, S P Balasubrahmanyam, Yesudas, Hariharan, Haricharan, Karthik and scores of the modern singers, set the tune, challenging Aswathy Anand to write the lyrics.
Growing response
An update on the Moksha Base Facebook page said that ‘Beyond Boundaries’ is enlisting good response, especially from donors and sponsors.
“We are waiting for a couple of more exceptional musicians to confirm,” the message said, hinting that among them could be Opera singers.
