Music is more than medicine for this pharmacist
Although a pharmacist by qualification and profession, I was born to sing and entertain people, winning their hearts says Shithi Saha, our Model of the fortnight.
While many of our Models of the Fortnight have aspired to have a large fan-following, Shithi has entered our columns being a celebrity. Just visit her website or Facebook, you would understand why.
Her voice is not just magnetic; it is mesmerising.
From Bangladesh where she was born and raised, and New Zealand where she lives and India to which she travels often for performances, recordings and shootings to the rest of the world where she is awaited with applauding audiences, Shithi is a celebrity by her own right. But the Sub-Continent woman that she is, none of the limelight blinds her attitude.
Early Start
Starting her musical journey when she was just four years of age, Shithi had the guidance and encouragement of her parents. She is today proficient in various forms of fine arts including singing, dancing, arts & crafts, poetry recitation, drama and music.
She has a long list of musical albums to her credit. Here is a sample: Angul Chuyachey Angul Tomar; Bishshoye Ghor; Mon Debo Mon Nebo (Title Track) and Ma Durga. Her filmography includes Tara Tin Jon Jhamelay Achey; Aynabaji, Dwondo Shomash, Ei Shomoy, and Modhu Renu Shomapon.
Record of Records
Shithi has won more than 100 awards throughout her music career.
She has also won four National Awards in Rabindra Sangeet City Cell Channel I and the Best Modern Singer Award in 2010.
The next time you switch on a Bangladesh or Indian TV channel, chances are that you will find Shithi doing a song, a commercial or a serial.
