Dreams bring excitement and motivate people to try and succeed, according to Nikisha Kansara, our Model of the Fortnight.
A Wellingtonian all her life, Nikisha is an active participant in the activities of the community, which is ‘positive and caring.’
This youngster could be a breath of fresh air to people who stop pursuing their objectives when faced with despair and disappointment.
“Keep dreaming and life will take you farther than you expected,” she said.
A Year 12 student at Onslow College, this teenager has great passion for education and show business, which will accrue her a progressive career and prosperous life.
“I feel blessed, choosing subjects such as drama, fashion and design, because I have always dreamt of becoming a model and actress in the Hindi film industry. These have also given me many opportunities to prove myself to the outside world and have allowed me to gain self-confidence,” she said.
As mentioned in our last (May 15) issue, Nikisha waited to ‘grow up’ to become eligible to participate in the Miss Wellington beauty contest, which was held in the Capital on May 25 (See separate story under Entertainmentlink)
“I was only 12 years old when I first heard about the contest. I do not believe one has to be skinny to win a beauty pageant. I feel offended when people tease me but I remain focused,” she said.
“For all those beautiful people who are unsure about life and about what they want, I believe that they should follow their dreams and stay positive, because doing something which you do not enjoy and is not proud of, will not get you anywhere.”
She loves shopping and spending quality time with her family and friends.
She belongs to the modern world and a cosmopolitan society, but Nikisha is proud of her Indian culture and heritage.
So keep dreaming and life will take you somewhere further than you expected.
