Love can win hearts, move mountains, stop rivers, make or break kingdoms and send the human mind on an emotional spin. It can conquer all. Love is a many-splendoured thing.
That is the belief of Andrea Mervin Pereira, our Model of the Fortnight.
Since appearing in this column almost two years ago, Andrea has progressed in her scholastic career, which now includes a proud postgraduate qualification in Communication studies, incorporating Public Relations.
Says she: Public Relations and Communications (in which she has a graduate degree from the AUT University) are twin aspects of human aspects of human relationships- be it at work, home or in the community. I believe in spreading love and understanding and my University study has been helpful.”
For all her open-mindedness and friendly disposition, Andrea remains a strong-willed woman with a moral rectitude that is reflective of the culture and heritage, which she imbibed as a family trait.
Born in Dubai and raised in Trivandrum, the capital city of Kerala, she believes in restraint and moderation.
“I have followed the ideals that my parents have set for me- to be independent, morally strong and pursue my goals in life with commitment and devotion. I am able to do anything I undertake with seriousness and dedication. I have never faltered in my programmes and objectives,” she said.
Andrea is constantly conscious of her mission in life, which is to progress in her chosen career with dignity and honour. She believes that success comes to those who dare to try without compromising principles and time-tested traditional and moral values.
“My parents have given me so much in life that the best way to repay my gratitude is live their dream as a successful person,” she said.
