Let us account for principles and morals
Aarti Pundir, our Model of the Fortnight, believes in Godliness and more importantly, ethics and principles in life, typical to people from Uttarakhand (formerly Uttaranchal) in North India, known as ‘the blessed children of ‘Devbhoomi’ of the ‘Land of the Gods.’
She has always been admired for her beauty but according to her, “True beauty is not defined by how skinny or big you are; or by the colour of your skin, hair or eyes are. True beauty is about who you are as a human being and what principles and morals you hold.”
Aarti is a student at AUT University, pursuing a degree in Bachelor of Business, with ambitions of becoming a Chartered Accountant.
She said that competitions such as Miss India New Zealand and Miss India Worldwide boost self-confidence and accept the way she is ‘with all imperfections.’
Aarti says that the portrayal of ideal body type in the present day society is critical.
“Body image is something everyone deals with in their own way. To me it is about accepting and appreciating the way I look. The media and society have a way of idealising body types but what matters is whether you are happy with yourself. If change is required do it for yourself and not because someone else wants you to change. The last thing anybody needs is society dictating what we should look like,” she said.
She was on Cloud Nine when she won the ‘Miss Beautiful Skin’ title at the Miss India Worldwide New Zealand Competition.
