India is a great country, Indians attract visitors and tourists with hospitality, and friendship, says Raskha Bhula, our Model of the Fortnight.
“Their simplicity is endearing and their success is inspiring,” she said, following her first visit to the land of their grandparents.
A third generation New Zealander, this youngster is away from her native windy Wellington to pursue a graduate degree course in Business at the AUT University in Auckland.
She was among the fortunate few to be involved in the production of Bollywood blockbuster ‘Players,’ a part of which was filmed in New Zealand.
“I believe I am lucky. I also appeared as an extra in ‘Sky Runners,’ an American- Canadian television film under the Walt Disney banner,” she said.
That she enjoys modelling and facing the camera was evident as we reviewed the pictures sent by Bhikhu Bhula.
“He creates wonders with his photographic equipment and I feel privileged to come under his focus. It was a proud moment when I won the ‘Miss Friendship’ Title at the Miss Wellington beauty pageant last year (Indian Newslink, September 15, 2011). I was also happy to participate in the Miss India New Zealand 2012 contest held in Auckland on April 21, 2012 (Indian Newslink, May 1, 2012),” she said.
She is confident of gaining business acumen to launch her career in the fashion or cosmetic industry, possibly owning her own enterprise in the future.
“I love New Zealand Fashion and have worked back stage at ‘New Zealand Fashion Week’ as well as attended a number of shows.”
Raksha also has a flavour for the perfume and cosmetic sector and would enjoy working for well-known people such as Karl Lagerfeld (Chanel).
Spirituality is a part of her life and that she was raised with the teachings of the late Satya Sai Baba.
