New Zealand offers the best opportunity for youngsters to pursue their chosen career, says Sabina Jey, our Model of the Fortnight.
This teenager spent much of her formative years in Australia, the US and Sri Lanka before returning earlier this year to New Zealand, the country of her birth, a move, which she said has been propitious.
“I took a year off from University to explore what Auckland has to offer and I must say that I am not disappointed. I want to see, do and learn more.”
Sabina said that she enjoys singing, playing the piano and dancing (Hip-Hop and Bollywood).
She was diffident that her height may be a disadvantage, but she was wrong.
“I never had the courage to pose for the camera, although modelling has been my dream since childhood. I have learnt that there is no limit to what you can do, although there could be restrictions on becoming a professional model,” she said.
Sabina said that she learnt a lot over the past few years.
“No matter what race, height or age you may be, there are opportunities. It took me a while to realise my potential and look out for modelling opportunities with confidence. I was surprised that success was at hand,” she said.
Although she may not make modelling her career, Sabina is looking for opportunities to do commercials.
“I hope that others who believe that they have some kind of flaw will persevere and do something that they enjoy,” she said.
