Model of the Fortnight

Dedication promotes talent and opportunity

Catwalk is not a cakewalk for modelling but invokes extreme dedication. You must really have a desire to make it work, says Ashwini Maharaj, our Model of the Fortnight.

That statement would reveal the fact that the 27-year-old Fijian beauty has a passion for modelling, fashion and glamour.

Arriving in New Zealand to pursue her studies in Business Management, she is now a Credit Controller at a commercial organisation, but seized the opportunity when a photographer captured her attention and offered a profile shoot.

Passion for fashion

Ashwini said that she decided to step into modelling world and fitness and healthy eating habits is very important.

“I am a freelance makeup artist and hairstylist. I enjoy long walks on beaches, cooking and spending time with friends and families,” she said.

Ashwini has worked with local photographers to gain experience. She participated in Miss Bikini New Zealand 2016 at which she was one of the ten finalists and won the Best Custom Award.

“I designed the Award,” she said with justifiable pride.

Ashwini hopes to participate in a local pageant, she believes would extend a platform to reach out to the youth and tell them,” No matter what size, nationality or colour, you are important. Embrace yourself, love yourself and never be afraid to put yourself out there. Don’t let dreams be just dreams.”

Ashwini is grateful to her family and friends for their support and encouragement.

“I believe that in order for one to succeed in life it is important to believe in yourself and with determination and dedication anything is possible,” she said.
