“I am proud to be a Fijian/Indian and family is the Number One priority in my life, and without their love and support I would not be the person I am today,” says Ashley Hoyt, our Model of the Fortnight.
This teenager enjoys soccer, tennis, netball and volleyball and loves spending time with her close friends.
Her interest in soccer is understandable, for she was born in Ba, which is known for having produced some of the best players of the game.
Migrating to New Zealand was not easy, she said.
“We successfully overcame obstacles, which is why we are such a tight-knit family,” she said.
Ashley won the Ms Riverside Princess 2001 contest in Fiji, which she said, was the motivation to enter the Miss Indianz 2012 beauty pageant.
“It was an amazing experience and I was delighted to win the ‘Miss Beautiful Hair’ segment. The contest widened my circle of friends,” she said.
That title was appropriate, for Ashley is currently pursuing a course in hairdressing at an Auckland based Academy.
“The course has given me several opportunities to do hairdressing for models entering the New Zealand Fashion Week. I would like to open my own salon in due course,” she said.
Ashley likes to travel and hopes to see several places of interest around the world.
“All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them,” she said, quoting Walt Disney.
