One of the most popular comedians will perform at Logan Campbell Centre in Greenlane, Auckland next month.
Raju Srivastava, known as the ‘King of Comedy’ will present an evening of guffaws, supported by local musicians and instrumentalists on October 7.
U A International (NZ) Limited is presenting the show, which earlier included singer Vinod Rathod.
Organiser Umesh Sharma said that Srivastava will keep the audience amused with his mimicry as well.
“He is one of our best known observational comedians and is noted for his acute scrutiny of various aspects of Indian life. Timing is the essence of his comical performances,” he said.
According to Wikipedia, Srivastava pursued the dream of becoming a comedian since childhood.
“While at school, he used to imitate his teachers and later gained recognition as an Amitabh Bachchan impressionist. He landed in Mumbai and started doing live stage shows with ‘Melody Makers,’ before getting a break in the film industry where he did small roles in a number of movies. Srivastava was featured in the third season of ‘Bigg Boss.”
‘The Great Indian Laughter Challenge,’ in which he was the Second Runner-up, was a turning point in his life and career.
He won the title, “The King of Champions’ in a sequel called, ‘The Great Indian Laughter Challenge- Champions.’
Film producers and directors began to recognise his talent and his imaginary characters ‘Gajodhar and Manohar’ became instantly popular.
He participated in the comedy show ‘Comedy Ka Maha Muqabla.’
