Office-to-Office, some things are getting common
In Sidney Sheldon’s blockbuster novel ‘The Other Side of Midnight,’ second heroine Catherine Alexander wins a coveted job by producing before her prospective employer an old magazine carrying important information in five minutes.
“Hair Salons are an important source for old magazines and books,” she says when asked to explain about her feat.
Magazines, for the most part also carry a long shelf value.
With costs of most items of daily need constantly on the rise, magazines (not to mention books) have become items of lesser demand among most people.
It is therefore not surprising that an organisation that procures and hires magazines at a fraction of the cost finds itself on the preference list of people.
Innovative concept
Shefali Chaudhary of ‘Magz2u,’ says that the business, which began as a unique and innovative concept 14 years ago, has found itself in the hands of growing number of people across multinationals, large, medium and small businesses, professionals and others throughout Auckland and increasingly other parts of New Zealand.
You may think that the reading habit, especially of the printed variety, is dying but Shefali believes otherwise, because she believes that the resource must reach people, and not the other way around.
“Even in this fast paced world where people hardly get time for anything, they would look for and prefer flicking through a magazine in the waiting areas of a business that they visit. Whether it is a food recipe, celebrity gossip, politics or any other informational topic, magazines are a source of entertainment. They offer a wide range of topics, play a vital role and enhance the look of any business,” she said.
Shefali was right. As she observed, New Zealand companies go an extra mile to bring a relaxing, informative and useful environment for customers and visitors.
Young dynamo
In more ways than one, Shefali represents the dynamism of the younger generation. Not very long ago, she assisted her husband Tony Chaudhary at Bayles East Tamaki where he continues to score high as Commercial and Industrial Property Sales Consultant.
However, it was her experience in the magazine and newspaper industry earlier that gave her the confidence to reboot into the business in this country.
“It sounded fun and it was a perfect start for me to have something of my own,” she said.
‘Magz2u’ rents and sells magazines to businesses – large, medium and small – all over New Zealand. The publications range from the latest editions to two months (or more) old.
“We supply magazines as per the package and publications selected by a business. Every two weeks we change and update the magazines, taking away the old ones,” Shefali said.
Affordable & Convenient
Customers say that the service is affordable, convenient and takes away the hassle of purchasing and accessing magazines periodically.
Businesses outside Auckland can arrange for magazines through a two-way courier system.
‘Magz2u’ has being growing from strength to strength serving an increasing number of customers earned through referrals and promotions made through company stickers on the front page of magazines. We work with several multinationals with nationwide branches Our magazine packages are mainly for businesses like hair salons, cafes, medical centres, beauty spas, doctors, dentists, hotels, motels, gyms and banks,” Shefali said.
