Bollywood, the most glamorous Tinsel Town of Hindi Cinema witnesses the arrival of thousands of new aspirants every day, trying to make a career as actors, dancers, choreographers, directors and producers.
Not all of them succeed.
Those who do make it have to go through trials and tribulations, tests and rehearsals and play to the whims of Godfathers.
Why do they go through all the trouble? What does success mean in this world of colour and personality syndrome?
This will be explained by Indiance, an Auckland based Bollywood Dance School in its show called, It Takes a Village that will take to the stage at the ASB Theatre at the Aotea Centre in Auckland City on May 7 at 730 pm.
Akshita (Vinod) Patel, Director of the School, has been the source of inspiration behind the $100,000 extravaganza, which debuted at St James Theatre in Wellington on April 30.
However, she credits the success of the event to her team.
“More than 100 young men and women are involved with It Takes a Village and some of them are just five-years-old. It was their commitment and devotion that made this programme a reality,” she said.
According to her, the show is a classic tale of the underdog trying to overcome what seems to be impossible.
“If he is to achieve this he will need guidance and determination. Does he have the power to succeed?”
“Brand new dances, a full creative, comedic and romantic script and colourful costumes are the hallmarks of It Takes a Village, The Show is for the entire family,” she said.
