Raise a toast at the Tenth Annual Indian Newslink Indian Business Awards

Venkat Raman

The Tenth Annual Indian Newslink Indian Business Awards, scheduled to be held on Monday, November 27, 2017 at SkyCity Convention Centre in Auckland City is the occasion to recognise and reward successful businesses owned, operated, franchised and managed by people of Indian origin.

It is also an occasion for leaders – political, business and community – to meet, renew and make new contacts, enjoy good food and entertainment and witness a solemn ceremony filled with joy, gratitude and appreciation.

To ensure that guests get the best value of our Awards, Michele A’Court, our Master of Ceremonies, will inform, entertain and adlib with her well-known humour (tongue-in-cheek sometimes, but nonetheless harmless) and most important of all, promote our Sponsors, raison d’être of our Awards Programme.

Gratitude to our Sponsors

Managing a national Awards Programme is a major challenge for, Indian Newslink does not have the luxury of moneybags who can underwrite the entire cost without batting an eyelid and transfer payments for the asking. Here, every dollar must be earned before it can be spent; along with the dollar, we have earned the friendship, partnership and professional working relationship of our Sponsors.

Over the years, there have been many of them – some have remained with us; some have gone and come back and a few entered various categories and won Awards. Our Sponsors have been the main patrons of the Awards Scheme.

The erstwhile Waitakere City Council, its Mayor Sir Bob Harvey, Chief Executive Vijaya Vaidyanath and Waitakere Enterprise Chief Executive John Wadsworth were the prime motivators who encouraged us to launch the Awards Scheme in March 2008. Sir Bob has always been our friend and guide, Ms Vaidyanath, now Chief Executive at the City of Yarra in Victoria, Australia keeps in touch, Mr Wadsworth has happily returned as the Sponsor this year as Dean, Faculty of Business and IT at Manukau Institute of Technology; there are many more such happy tidings.

Title Sponsor BNZ

Banks have been major supporters since we commenced; among them were ASB (2008), National Bank (2009 & 2010), which later merged with ANZ and Bank of New Zealand (BNZ).

BNZ has been our Title Sponsor since 2011 and in the past six years, we have learnt aplenty from our association. As well as being the Sponsor of the Best Large Business Category and the Supreme Business of the Year Award, BNZ also hosts at least three Workshops that we conduct for entrants in June, July and August. Ansuya Naidoo, Head of Indian Community Banking is our source of strength and support. She also holds us to account, ensuring that the Bank gets the best value with dignity and honour.

Our other Sponsors of various categories this year are the best in their respective industries- some of them are favourites across the world. Among them are 2degrees, Singapore Airlines, AIA New Zealand, Bayleys Real Estate, Service Foods Limited, Oporto New Zealand, The Fund Master, Aims Global Education & Immigration Services, Manukau Institute of Technology, PIC Insurance Brokers, Kiwi Liquor Group of Companies, Alexandra Park, Relianz Travel, Mercury Printz, Krishna Kumar Pusarla and Radio Tarana.

Among our Support Sponsors are the Human Rights Commission and The Ranchhod Foundation.

Our Judges

The strength of an Awards Scheme rests on its integrity, the quintessential element of which is its Panel of Judges. Indian Newslink Indian Business Awards have, since the beginning, had the benefits of a highly professional, motivated and fiercely independent judges, drawn from various segments of industry and business. We have also been extremely fortunate to have the expertise and experience of Chad Wilkie, former Tax Partner of Deloitte New Zealand and a popular business mentor and consultant. Our Judges are our greatest asset.

We look forward to receiving you at our Awards Ceremony. Tickets, priced at $150 plus GST per person and tables seating ten persons per table at $1500 plus GST are available. Please call 021-836528 or Email: editor@indiannewslink.co.nz
