The International Veteran Soccer tournament organised by NZ Fiji Soccer Inc will be held at Bill McKinlay Park in Panmure, Auckland from January 25 to 30, 2012.
NZ Fiji Soccer Inc general secretary Jiten Lal said that the tournament will be held in two categories, one each for Over 35s and Over 40s.
He said a total amount of $10,000 will be given away as prize money to winners and runners-up in the two categories.
“The Winner in the Over 35 category will receive $5000, while the Runner-Up will receive $1000. The Winner and the Runner-up in the Over 40s category will receive respectively $3000 and $1000.
“A number of overseas and local teams will participate in the six-day event and hence we look forward to watching professional play,” he said.
Mr Lal said that a number of business houses are supporting the International Veteran Soccer Tournament.
“Bill McKinlay Park has a new turf to handle any weather condition and hence rain or sunshine, we can expect great soccer,” he said.
