The Indian High Commission has agreed to pay $8000 towards the cost of transporting the dead body of Vamshi Reddy Chinta Reddy, a community leader has confirmed.
Telangana Association of New Zealand President Narendra Reddy told Indian Newslink a short time ago that a member of the community received a phone call from an Indian High Commission saying that a part of the cost of flying home the dead body would be met.
“The estimated cost of sending the body of Vamshi Reddy who died on August 12, 2022, is $20,000. While this kind offer from the Indian High Commission will help, we hope to raise the remaining amount over the next two or three days,” he said.
Mr Narender Reddy said that the body of Mr Vamshi Reddy will be flown by Emirates to Hyderabad on Monday, August 22, 2022.
“We thank the people of New Zealand in general and the members of the Telangana Association of New Zealand in particular for their timely help. We still need money to meet the costs of transporting the body,” he said.
Vamshi Reddy hailed from a village near Khammam, a District in Telangana where his parents live. His brother, the only sibling, is a student in the United States of America.
