Former Civic and Combined Brothers Soccer Players residing in New Zealand will play for the inaugural Meli Delai Memorial Cup in honour of the former Combined Brothers and Suva Rep, the late Meli Delai.
The matches will begin at 230 pm on Saturday, September 21 at the Rongomai Sports Complex, Te Irirangi Drive, Dannemora in East Auckland.
The event would be held annually with teams comprising players from other Suva Clubs such as League, Everton, Vatuwaqa and Samabula as guest players.
Game coordinator, Mack Khan of the Auckland based Suva Masters Football Club said that the forthcoming event would pay homage to a former player and friend.
“We hope to make this event a Family Day to enable players and their families to establish or renew contacts. We also hope to form a good Suva Veterans Soccer Team to participate in the Over 35s Soccer Tournament in Auckland,” he said.
