Organisers say technical difficulties led to the decision

Just two days before the show, the much-awaited concert by Maestro Ilaiyaraaja and his troupe has been postponed to Saturday, December 3, 2022.
The programme, the first by the Music Master in New Zealand was scheduled to be held at Trusts Arena in West Auckland on Saturday, September 24, 2022.
The decision was announced by Anton Leslie, one of the promoters, at a reception held in honour of Ilaiyaraaja at the AUT Campus in the city tonight.
Singers who had arrived to perform at the show, including Anitha Karthikeyan, S P Charan (son of the late S P Balasubrahmanyam), Karthick, Madhu Balakrishnan, Mano, Narayanan Ravishankar, Peer Mohammed, Priya Babu, Sarath Santosh, Shenbagaraj, Shweta Mohan, Srisha Andra, Sucharita Venkataramanan, Surmukhi Raman, Vasudevan Kumaraswamy, Vibharavi and Yugendran Vasudevan were also present.
Malini Yugendran, who welcome the gathering, was the Master of Ceremonies.
“We have had technical problems with some of the equipment, prompting us to postpone the Concert. We did not want to compromise the quality of the show and hence we took this decision in consultation with Ilaiyaraaja,” he said at the event.
Ilaiyaraaja shared some of his experiences at the meeting attended by the media, officials representing sponsors and members of the Tamil Community.
A press note issued at the event said that the tickets purchased for the September 24, 2022 concert will be valid for the show to be held on December 3, 2022, at the same venue.
“Further details shall be communicated to individual ticket buyers regarding the exchange of the show passes for the same shortly. We have always strived our best to deliver a great concert experience and as per the advice of the Ilaiyaraaja Management Team, the decision to postpone the Concert was taken,” the press note said.
