Greetings to our advertisers….

Advertising Executives marketing a publication on the grow are often caught in a cyclic conundrum. Advertisers and advertising agencies say ‘see us after a few issues’ but no issue can come out without advertising!

It is a proverbial Catch 22, with success assured to those who deliver the promised quality.

Indian Newslink, like any other newspaper, sustains itself on advertising and has been privileged to carry the support of advertisers from a broad spectrum of the economy. There are corporate and individual, contractual and casual and wholesale and retail advertisers, each of whom has stood by us, lending support and encouragement.

All you have to do is to look at the first and the latest issue to get the idea.

Indian Newslink would like to acknowledge with gratitude the patronage extended by its advertisers over the years.

…. Our contributors

A Newspaper does not thrive by its staff alone. It often looks to experts in various fields to enhance the value of its editorial content. They supplement opinions, clarify issues and at times raise a controversy and debate. Everything in fact to make life worth living and a newspaper worth reading.

Indian Newslink has a poll of contributors and overseas correspondents helping the newspaper extend its scope and content. They have always risen to the occasion, often at short notice, to keep readers informed or entertained.

We are also privileged to carry exclusive columns written by the Prime Minister, Ministers, Leader of the Opposition, Members of Parliament, Politicians, business and community leaders and others in our issues.

Their support and patronage enables us to justly claim, “What you read in Indian Newslink is either written for us or by us.”

There are of course odd occasions when we purchase stories from other publications or agencies. But we do not use stories that have appeared elsewhere without proper authority or payment.

As we say, “Our stories are cut and dried; not cut and pasted.”

We offer our sincere salutations to our advertisers, contributors and say how privileged we are to have them in our columns and look forward to reading more of their thoughts and opinions on issues of national and social significance in the editions to follow.

…Our Distributors

Distributors form the most important link in the newspaper industry. Indian Newslink is distributed through major Indian outlets (Retail stores, restaurants, takeaways, supermarkets, superettes and convenience stores) in all cities and towns throughout New Zealand. Owners, operators and managers of these enterprises share our passion for providing quality-reading material and as such eagerly await the arrival of each issue, either through our direct delivery system or through courier operators. There are occasions when many of them call us to increase the number of copies supplied. The response obtained from a few of them in Auckland, which is reflective of others in the country, is published elsewhere in this Special Report. We are grateful to them for their involvement and support.

And of course You

Readers form the most important and most significant aspect of every publication and in the case of Indian Newslink, their influence has been pronounced.

Over the past 12 years, our readers have offered us bouquets and brickbats, patted on our backs in appreciation and rapped us in annoyance; but seldom have they left us for another. They have stood by us in good and bad times, appreciating our efforts in reaching them reading material worthy of their attention.

Many have told us, “No matter who comes into the market, Indian Newslink will always be our favourite Newspaper. No one can take away your status as the ‘First English language newspaper of the Indian community, with a series of other Firsts to your credit.”

It is the confidence that you have reposed in us that gives us the strength to move forward. We will always be beholden to you for your patronage and support.

You give meaning and purpose to the existence of Indian Newslink.

Thanks you!

The demand keeps soaring

“Indian Newslink always appears to be in short supply, with copies exhausted in less than three days after its delivery. Give us more to meet the rising demand. Why don’t you print a million copies?”

These are some of the opinions expressed as we field calls from several retailers from various parts of the country every fortnight. Is our newspaper so much in demand? We decided to find out, to begin with, from a few select outlets in Auckland that witness a large number of customers every day of the week. Here is what they said:

Give us more!

We have been a source of distribution of Indian Newslink for more than ten years. Over the years, we have seen growing interest among our customers and those who are unable to visit us on the day of its release always ask us to keep a copy for them.

There are other publications of course, but Indian Newslink is the most preferred community newspaper at our shop.

Indian Newslink is not a cut and pasted job and some others. The stories and photographs appearing in this newspaper are great.

Ajit Singh, Director, Arch Food & Spice, Henderson, Waitakere

Indian Newslink is always on schedule, delivered as per its date of publication. Our customers would first pick up a copy before ordering their food at our Restaurants. They say that this newspaper is the best community publication and is balanced in its views. I personally enjoy reading it.

Vincent George, Purchase & Store Manager, Bikanervala, Mt Roskill

We are pleased to be one of the distributors of Indian Newslink. This is a great publication with superb articles and excellent reporting. Our customers eagerly await each issue and copies run out quickly. We always ask for more copies!

Atul Purohit, Director, Sri Ganesh Food & Spice, Mt Roskill

Eager customers

Indian Newslink moves as fast as the products in our Supermarket! We advertise all our specials in this newspaper and hence there is always demand from our customers. There are also many residents in this area who do their shopping over weekends but visit us on the day Indian Newslink is delivered. We find this a fine and well-balanced newspaper.

Matching quality

It is no surprise that Indian Newslink is the most wanted newspaper in our shop. In fact, it is not surprising that many customers plan their purchases on the day when the newspaper is delivered to us. It is great to have this newspaper in our shop. It matches our concept of quality.

Dipak Khatri, Sales Supervisor, Kaysons, New Lynn, Waitakere

Indian Newslink is always in demand and we tell customers to visit the shop on the day it is delivered so that they would not be disappointed. Customers from outside Auckland request us to reserve a copy for them and we always oblige. This is the most popular most widely read Indian newspaper in New Zealand.

Anil Singh, Director, Valley Fresh & Vege, Papatoetoe, South Auckland
