A night of celebration and inspiration heralded the graduation of 200 New Zealand Career College (NZCC) students at the Telstra Clear Pacific Events Centre in Manukau on March 29, 2012.
The students, from campuses in Manukau, North Shore, Waitakere and Auckland City, graduated with qualifications in vital industries, including Early Childhood Education and Business.
Among them was Shaani Prakash, an international student from Fiji.
Joining the New Zealand Career College (NZCC) last year, she successfully completed a Diploma in Early Childhood Education Level 5.
She described her experience at NZCC as ‘an amazing and rewarding journey.’
“The lecturers were very understanding and were always available to assist where necessary. The College supported my application to Immigration New Zealand for an open Work Visa to enable me to apply for a job in my field of study,” she said.
Shaani is keen to pursue her Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education.
NZCC Managing Director Feroz Ali said the graduation ceremony was a special occasion for everyone involved.
“It was a family-focused occasion and a life-changing event for students like Shaani, highlighting the journey taken to reach this milestone.
“The Ceremony was a chance for the College and its community to celebrate its growth and the achievements of the students in a vibrant atmosphere,” he said.
In his keynote address, ‘C-Me Mentoring Foundation Trust Founder John Kotoisuva said that the secret of motivating the younger members of the society was to ‘personalise, visualise and emotionalise.”
“If they believe in that reason strong enough, they will be unstoppable,” he said.
Former Mangere Community Board and Martin Hautus The Pacific Peoples’ Learning Institute Chief Executive was the Master of Ceremonies.
Among the performers in the entertainment segment were ‘Anakh Punjab Di’ (Indian dance) and Tatau Dance Group, an all-male Samoan dance group.
