A fast growing Private Training Establishment (PTE) has successfully gained an exemption for funding moratorium to pursue development of a Bachelor degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE -Pacifika).
New Zealand Career College (NZCC) will offer the Course (Level 7) from 2012.
Chief Executive Feroz Ali said the Education Ministry had accorded the necessary approval.
“We have worked hard for more than six years to provide quality teaching and learning at our campuses and it is a matter of pride and satisfaction that our students have done will in their careers. We are now ready to add greater value to our education services,” he said, speaking at the Graduation Ceremony of the College last month.
More than 80 students from various campuses of the College in the Auckland region received their qualification certificates at the impressive ceremony held at Dorothy Winstone Centre of Auckland Girls Grammar School on October 28, 2010.
“The Education Ministry is convinced that we have the caliber and competence to match the standards required to offer various courses and programmes,” Mr Ali said.
Accredited by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority and approved by the Tertiary Education Commission for grant of student loans, allowances and student component funding for domestic students, NZCC has campuses in the Auckland region (including Auckland, Manukau, North Shore, Waitakere), Wellington and Christchurch. The College offers a variety of programmes in modern environment.
A press note said that the graduating students (with certificates or diplomas in ECE and Business and Computing) were ready to pursue higher studies or join the workforce.
Graduating student Nereda Blair shared some inspirational thoughts with her teachers and fellow graduates.
“Remember that knowledge is power but imagination is even more powerful and you have to always dream of the end result,” she said.
Following completion of the National Certificate in ECE and Care (Level 3), Ms Blair is currently pursuing her Diploma in ECE Level 5 (Pasifika) (Level 5) at NZCC.
Mr Ali said the focus of the College was not only to get students through their course but also providing them practical knowledge and skills that are relevant and transferable outside the classroom.
“For example, ECE students take part in practicum placements, gaining invaluable hands-on work experience in local centres, which would help them in obtaining gainful employment,” he said.
Enrolments for 2011 programmes, including Certificates and Diplomas in ECE, Health and Business are now open, Mr Ali said.
