Good publications grow with communities

I would like to congratulate the management of Indian Newslink on their 13th Anniversary.

I remember the early days of this newspaper, and like many others, used its pages for advertising.

Being involved in the community, I could see the newspaper playing a huge role in linking people, organisations, youth, sportspeople, religious bodies and businesses.

I am happy to observe the newspaper’s consistency and balance of support to all ethnic groups within our communities.

Indian Newslink is a publication that the Indian community needed.

As the migration of Indians in New Zealand continued, the paper has been a strong supporter to all by giving information on basic essentials such as events, groceries, cultural events and so on.

When people first migrate to New Zealand, they do not have adequate support from people who they trust.

This is where the newspaper becomes more important and I know that it has helped new migrants in a number of ways.

Useful Avenue

The support from the people and businesses helps on one hand Indian Newslink to survive and create a platform for communications for new and old migrants.

Since the paper becoming available online, I am sure it is widely read by people outside New Zealand. The web edition also helps people planning to come to New Zealand on either permanent resident visa or other permits.

Indian Newslink has also helped businesses grow, promoting them among the wider communities.

The launch of the Indian Newslink Indian Business Awards in 2008 has encouraged businesses multifold to perform better and enter under categories for recognition and reward.

In fact, the main Award should go to Indian Newslink.

Businesses benefit

The Awards Scheme has been taken seriously not only by the Indian community but also by the country as a whole due to the professionalism and elegance of the Awards Night along which witnesses the presence of eminent personalities, businesses, professionals and others.

I believe that the newspaper is targeted not only to elders and middle aged but also to the youth of today.

I have always said that our young people can achieve anything as long as we give them a platform. Indian Newslink provides them this platform by supporting them by promoting their achievements.

Indian Newslink also covers a wide range of news stories, including crime, business, community, entertainment and sports. I have found its reporting analytical, descriptive, unbiased and relevant to all of us.

Like any business, there is always room to grow.

I looking forward to witnessing the newspaper grow and serve its readers, members of the community and the country better.
