GMP Pharmaceuticals bagged another award last fortnight, this time for excellence in business innovation.
The Most Innovative Approach Category was a part of the New Zealand International Business Awards 2010 given away by the New Zealand Trade & Enterprise. GMP General Manager Minesh Patel received the Award on behalf of his Company at a Gala Black Tie Dinner and Award Presentation Night held at the Sky City Convention Centre on October 13.
In selecting the Company for the honour, the judges said its approach to international business exhibited a high degree of innovation.
“GMP Pharmaceuticals has moved beyond wholesale manufacturing of pharmaceutical products to become intimately involved in its clients’ business by advising them on aspects such as initial concepts, packaging, and distribution.
“This makes it a one-stop shop and as a result, it is helping many companies, including other New Zealand firms successfully enter the Chinese market,” they said.
Mr Patel said his Company’s inventive approach had made it the largest contract manufacturer of supplements in New Zealand and a fast-growing force in the health-conscious Asian market.
“We have almost doubled our annual export earnings in the last two years to become a $30 million company. Our engagement with clients can reach well beyond manufacturing, from development of the product to support in design and development of packaging, product and IP registration, distribution, product launches and retail display in international markets,” he said.
Mr Patel said GMP would expand into the infant formula market in China.
“We hope to export 20 million cans a year, earning $200 million,” he said.
