An evening of Ghazals organised by the Waitakere Indian Association (WIA) in aid of its Senior Citizens Group was an enthralling event.
Shanti Niwas Charitable Trust Project Manager Indu Bajaj was the Chief Guest at the SHAAM-E-GAZA held at the Te Atatu South Community Centre in Henderson on November 20, 2010.
She spoke of the need to provide care and support for the elder members of the society. Shanti Niwas is a primary organisation in the field and conducts a series of programmes for senior citizens at its Onehunga facility.
Speaking on the occasion, National List MP Kanwaljit Singh Bakshi said organisations like Shanti Niwas and WIA performed commendable work and were the pride of the communities involved.
Students of the Sur Sargam School of Music presented the programme, directed by their Principal Durga Reddy.
WIA President Anand Naidu and Roopa Aur Aap TV Programme Producer Roopa Suchdev were among the others who participated in the programme.
