Fijian connection boosts sales

Trimmer Dairy at 200 Shirley Road in Papatoetoe is a popular outlet for its quality Fijian Kava, imported from Fiji.

Managing Director Saiyad Kaiyum Shah has a passion for serving products that conform to highest standards of durability and hygiene.

Migrating to New Zealand in 1989 from his native Nadi in Fiji, Mr Shah realised the harsh reality of securing employment. After three years of struggle, he realised that self-employment was the best course to follow to achieve progress and prosperity.

He purchased Trimmer Dairy, a running business and has, over the years, turned it into an example of dedication and commitment leading to success.

New entrants follow the example set by seniors in the industry, among who the Trimmer Dairy is a force to reckon with.

The dairy and superettes business has become a stronghold of the Indian community with almost 90% of the outlets in New Zealand owned and managed as family enterprises by people of subcontinent origin.

“Life is too short to mourn for anything. You should enjoy every moment of it and do the right thing to achieve your goals,” Mr Shah said.
