Dame Susan Devoy –
We are humbled and fortunate to welcome Rakesh Naidoo to the Human Rights Commission as my Strategic Advisor, Race Relations.
Our Wellington office was abuzz with ethnic community members as Rakesh arrived for his Powhiri, accompanied by supporters from a wide range of ethnicities, faiths and government agencies.
Rakesh has been seconded from his role as the National Ethnic Advisor at New Zealand Police for a two-year term.
Bringing together
The Maori proverb, “Tui tui Tangata. Tui Tui Korowai’ (‘Bringing People Together is like Weaving a fine cloak’).
Those who know Rakesh well will also know that he has a special gift at doing.
He is adept at bringing people and communities together.
We look forward to working with Rakesh as we continue to bring New Zealanders together with mana, in peace and in human rights.
