It is an anxious wait for tens of thousands of people in Auckland and neighbouring regions to see one of their favourite film stars within their hand’s reach.
Govinda, the darling of men and women who frequent Hindi films, will be at the Independence Day celebrations being organised by Radio Tarana on Saturday, August 16, 2014 at ASB Show Grounds in Auckland’s Greenlane.
As mentioned in our July 1, 2014 issue (Radio Tarana Anniversary Special), it would be a rare opportunity for New Zealanders, for unlike many other events involving celebrity stars, this event would be free for all.
There would certainly be shouts of ‘Chi Chi’ (his pet name) and ‘Govinda, Hero No 1’ from more than 15,000 fans.
The star of films received the Numero Uno title because he acted in several films titled Number One and the star of radio stations received the status because it remains the leader in serving the community and returning greater value to its advertisers and sponsors.
Versatile Star
Govinda is a charmer, entertainer, humorist, mimicry artiste, all rolled into one, and most important of all, he is a man of the people. There is no air that hangs over or about him. Some celebrities get humbler as they become more popular and reach dizzy heights of fame. Govinda is one such.
