Luxman said that the festivities, being held in compliance with the Alert Level regulations in force, includes Mehndi (Hand Painting), Bindi (a red dot placed on the forehead), tips to wear the turban for men and saree for women.
Rangoli, Dances and more
“We also have stalls selling sarees and jewellery. We have a Rangoli artist demonstrating how to make floral patterns on the floor. Swaroopa Unni, our popular Classical dance teacher of the Natyaloka School of Indian Dance will conduct a socially distanced Bollywood Dance Workshop,” he said.
Luxman said that the Otago Museum Café will sever traditional Indian food to suit the Deepavali festival. Entry to the event is free.
“The Otago Museum is committed to maintaining the safety of our community. This event is taking place in accordance with the Alert Level 2 conditions of the government. People must wear face masks while in the Museum,” Luxman said.
