A few years ago, a few would have thought that this young and energetic woman from Suva (Fiji) would not only ‘shake the earth’ but also make waves, making everyone around her proud and happy.
As Anita Prasad releases her first single called, “Something in my Mind,’ on October 24, many would know what she had in mind- to strive for the betterment of people in general and the underprivileged and under-nourished in particular.
The new song, written by her and produced by Still Moon Production in collaboration with ‘Kiwi Rapper,’ would make a profound statement.
Her interest in beauty, fashion and community service has enabled her to participate in a number of fashion shows and beauty contests and win honours at a number of national and international competitions.
Several Titles
Among them are Miss Earth New Zealand 2013, Miss Diversity Culture New Zealand 2012 and Miss United Nations Tourism 2012, the last of which was held in Kingston, Jamaica, involving contestants from 22 countries.
Her journey as Miss UN Tourism 2012 earned her two further titles, namely, ‘Miss People’s Choice Ambassador 2012’and ‘Miss Best Personality.’
Her involvement with Fiji Television furthered her interest towards the small screen, while her passion for show business has paid dividends. As well as participating in Diwali Festival fashion shows, Mr International New Zealand Diversity Culture, she appeared in small roles in ‘Shortland Street’ (2012) and on a number of TV commercials.
Open Dreams
Anita believes in dreaming with her eyes open, so that she could see what is around her and the way forward in her career.
“The diverse cultural collaboration that we have in New Zealand plays a vital role in opening doors internationally to mix and mingle with different cultural attributes. I have had the good fortune of meeting with many amazing people across the globe and share our culture, beliefs and values. I am a proud Fijian-Kiwi,” she said.
Her music is an extension of the desire to showcase talent manifest in varied forms. She commenced her singing career with music lessons at a studio in Auckland. Still Moon Production has produced the track which carries her lyrics.
Musical career
Anita intends to continue her career in music.
“My next music video, incorporating a pop song called, ‘Let’s Do it’ will be released in December, while the third music video will be shot in Melbourne,” she said.
Her qualification (double major in Accounting and Management) from the University of the South Pacific and AUT has been helping in her career with an Auckland based IT Company as an Accounting Software Technician
