Press Release –
Appliance City, a company with its registered office in Papatoetoe, Auckland was placed in liquidation on February 15, 2016, according to the Companies Office.
Door-to-door sales company Appliance City was placed into liquidation, while owing Waikato customers.
Pritesh Patel of Insolvency Practitioners and Accountants Patel & Co said that the collapse of the door-to-door sales company may leave a number of Waikato customers out of pocket.
One of the shareholders placed the Company into liquidation. It operated out of Hamilton, sold big-ticket house hold items, including furniture and electronic devices, on credit.
More creditors
Mr Patel said it appeared that a number of Waikato customers had been making payments for items they had not yet received when it was placed into liquidation, meaning those customers are now creditors.
All direct debit payments had been stopped by the liquidator as of last week, he said.
“However, in the early stage of the liquidation process it appeared unlikely that those creditors would see their money. The amount of debt is unknown at this stage as the liquidators are still working on identifying how many customers were creditors,” Mr Patel said.
“It is estimated that the amount owing was tens of thousands of dollars,” he added.
Mr Patel urged customers who had paid for, but not yet received goods from Appliance City to contact his firm at 344, Great South Road, Papatoetoe Auckland 2025. Phone: (09) 2776852; 021-2775080; Email: pritesh.patel@xtra.co.nz
“It seems that Appliance City operated on a loan scheme that may be in breach of a number of laws. Those matters might be referred to the Commerce Commission.”
